Dashboard Reports

Hi,

I have a question on dashboard reporting. I recently saw a webinar on the Actuate site where it was shown how "reportlets" can be used to create management dashboards. The examples that were shown had the report designs created in Actaute e.RDPro and then reportlets were extracted from the report output file (.roi) to show them as dashboards.

Is this functionality possible with the Actuate BIRT designer Professional?

Thanks.

    Hi buntysingh,

Yes, portions of BIRT reports can be delivered as portlets, but not with just the designer. To get this functionality, your BIRT reports need to be deployed to the Actuate iServer. This acts as the container to first create the intermediate report format (.rptdocument) and then you can point at areas with the report (like a table or chart) to display this dashboard element as a JRS-168 portlet.
