more VFE woes

Posting somewhat blind based on data from another TeamSite expert. TeamSite 5.5.2, W2K, IE5.5/6.

Most users don't have admin rights on their PCs and can't change internet options. We have periodic SMS delivery of software/config to all desktops. When this happens, VFE breaks on some users' desktops as the ActiveX is considered unsafe. An admin can log in and change their config to "prompt" when the browser sees an ActiveX control, but this is a major hassle. There is no known difference between the PCs that experience this problem and those that don't.

Is anyone else having these kinds of issues? What could be causing this and what are the diagnosis steps?

Short of rebuilding the PCs, changing the SMS process and/or the config it defines, having an admin reset the config after SMS delivery on the affected PCs or just giving up on VFE, what are the options? I am hoping for something snippy-quick.

BTW, neither Ektron nor Interwoven seems to support VFE in a TeamSite environment?
