Link Mgmt//Deletion WF (Find All Links to a Page)

My company wants to implement a workflow to support deletion of content. One of the things I am concerned about is any pages that link to the file(s) being deleted. I know the SCE has a feature that can validate all of the links in a page to other pages, but does anyone know of a way to identify all pages that link TO a given page?

One of the options I am considering is to leave the DCR around (for templated content only) to make it easier for the user to see history, etc. but mark it with an extended attribute that indicates it has been deleted and have the generation logic ignore files with that attribute set. Does this sound like a bad idea?

I am interested in the general solutions for supporting deletion. Deletion of directories would be especially interesting. I would prefer that none of this be the responsibility of the TeamSite administrator as it is currently...

Funny that a spellcheck on this site would flag URLs, DCR, SCE and templated as spelling errors...
