Novell Application Launcher
catorarn
We are encountering a problem with the execution of javascript when accessing Teamsite server from a PC running Novell Application Launcher. Here is a desrciption of a specific problem.
Machine Environment
================
- Our hotels use Novell Application Launcher (NAL) as a replacement MS Windows shell, this allows the users to be presented with only those program icons that they need access to. NAL looks at the Novell groups that the user is a member of (on their local File & Print Novell server) and uses that information to customise the icons shown.
- NAL is specified in the user's Window's SYSTEM.INI file (in C:\WINDOWS) using the shell command. Instead of the usual
shell=explorer.exe we have
shell=c:\novell\client32\nalwin32.exe
The Problem
==========
The user can log into the Team site server and select the DCT that they wish to edit. From the template they have to hit a browse button and then from that page they hit "select files" option. When they do this we get a javascript error:
Line 16
Char 33
Error 'top.opener.form.frame.dcreditForm" is null or not an object
Code: 0
WorkAround
==========
We can get around this in the following way
1) Use the default shell in windows (ie shell=c:\windows)
2) Then fire up NALWIN32.exe (the NAL interface) from the user's Window's Startup folder
Did anyone of you get TS fully functional within the Novell Application Launcher or encountered this error before?
thanks
