How do I call a store procedure prior to executing queries

Hi,
I'm new to BIRT and using it for an application that uses views with a session context which needs to be set in order to see any data.

I have a security stored procedure which I need to call when the report first starts in order to initialise the context.

I've created a valid data set which uses an SQL Procedure query but i can't work out how to execute this after the database connection.

I've tried putting various expressions in the 'After Open' property of the Data Source but it doesn't work as expected.

help appreciated!
