Date Format in Chart Axis

I'd like a format of mm-yy in my x-axis. The data is datetime. I used the edit format to do an advanced format of mm-yy and while the advanced format seems to show the correct rendering, it doesnt pass through to the actual report. I'm attaching an image showing the config and the results. I'm running birt 2.3.0
