New Data Record Window hangs

After I've installed Iwov SP2 - it appears that when I go to file then new data record - the pop-up window (where one selects their category for a DCT) merely only displays the following in it's title bar:

/iw/webdesk/templating/TmplChooserServlet?iw_ch

with a totally blank screen

Now looking at the access.log file I see this entry:
