Teamsite Search Metadata based search erratic

TS Version 7.1

We are facing issues while searching for content based on Metadata using Teamsite Search (OOTB). We faced inconsistencies in CSSDK Search queries also so we first decided to iron out the issues on Teamsite Search.

We are looking for metadata based on entries made in FieldMapping.xml. We have purged all existing indexes and restarted the services. Still, results are inconsistent.

My first question is that has anyone encountered such issues before? Or, is this a known issue with the product. If not, i can start providing some details on configuration and code to help understand the issue at hand.
