LS/SP questions from 50,000 feet

We're just getting SitePublisher/LiveSite up and running and have a few "very high level questions."

We will be using SitePublisher, LiveSite Display Services and LiveSite Content Services.


(see attached documents for the following questions.)
1) (config1) When we run a Publish LiveSite Content workflow and select "development" what databases are updated (1, 2, 3)?

2) (config1) When we run a Publish LiveSite Content workflow and select "production" what databases are updated (1, 2, 3)?

3) (config2) is this possible? if so, when is "testing" updated and when is "production" updated?

4) We have multiple sites - how does LS know which site to display?
note: Currently we use different web servers on different ports that have different doc roots

5) Should we create different "sites" on one branch or should we use multiple branches or a combination of both?
note: Some sites are closely related, others are not. (We have three distinct groups of sites)
