Restricting Component Access

Want to know if by any mean we can restrict components access while creating a page based on author groups/roles?

While Creating a Page, author clicks on Add COmponents & gets a list of all the components the Author should not be able to view or drag/drop or modify all the components, the Authors should have access to only few components.

Can we achieve anything like above ?
