Simplifying the page creation wizard for contributors
System
The documentation (SP Dev guide) provides instructions for editing the pagetype-config.xml in the livesite customer toolkit in order to add new page types and associate layouts to those page types. However, it is not clear if it is possible to disable any of the out of the box types.
What I am specifically trying to accomplish is the elimination of a step for a page author when contributing a page. We have a number of custom FALs currently associated with the Default HTML page type (we may later move them to a custom type). We have a template which is associated with one of those FALs.
Right, the steps necessary in the wizard for a user to create a page are:
1. Change Page Type from "Site Default" to "Default HTML" (even though the site default is "Default HTML")
2. Change the Layout Type to "Standard Layout"
3. Choose the template.
What we would prefer would be to remove the page types that we do not anticipate using, have the Layout Type dropdown active and matching the options for whatever we selected for site default, and then the user would only need to select a template. Is that possible?
