Vertical Flyout navigation component partially displaying when fixed-layouts are used

We're running TeamSite 7.2.1 on a Linux box with SitePublisher installed. We're not using Livesite. We are experimenting with Fixed layouts in SitePublisher and we are having a problem with the out-of-the-box Vertical Flyout navigation component that utilizes the sitemap. It's not displaying the entire menu in page edit mode and dissappears completely in preview. We are using the sample fixed-layout called "myNestedFixedLayout.xml" and it's selected in the layout type in the page settings. The vertical flyout works fine if added to a page not using a fixed layout. Has anyone seen this? It's as if the height of the page is not dynamically adjusting when the flyout menu is used.
