Automatic creation of .page files from a script?

Hi folks,

As part of our web site migration project, we would like our script/program to automatically create SitePublisher ".page" pages. Based on the various EAs, unique IDs, and version numbers contained within the XML of each .page file, this appears to be a fairly delicate task. While we have some ideas on how to proceed, I would like to know if anyone in this community has already been down this road.
