Backups on Teamsite 6.7.1

I had heard one of the new recommendations coming out with TS 6.7.1 regarding backups was the ability to backup the iwfs drive. My understanding was this was not supported in previous versions of Teamsite and would like to see if this is something that we should investigate as we upgrade to 6.7.1?

Do you perform this as the store is frozen? Any other backup recommendations? The Backup whitepaper that was on the 6.7.1 upgrade best practice had a 2001 timestamp on it so I wasn't sure if this was still the stance.
