Updating Index statistics

Hi,

For improving the performance on SQL server side we carry out index rebuilding and reorganizing regularely, also updating index statistics gives better query performance. Currenty our [MediaBin Repository] DB has AUTO UPDATE STATISTICS property set to true. This will automatically take care of updating the index statistics data. I would like to know for better performance do we really need to override this AUTO UPDATE behaviour when we have a huge DB size? Can you please guide on appropriate scheme for this operation?
Also, If you have any other tips for improving the MB performance then please let us know.
