custom menu item timeout ?

I have a custom menu item that kicks off a deployment. Sometimes it times out if the process runs more than 5 minutes. I *thought* this would be governed by the IIS timeout, but it was changed by the admin to 10 minutes but it still ends after 5.

TS 6.5 Win 2003.

What am I missing ? I have not found anything in the manuals.
