'Add User' dialogue in 6.7.1 - what's the OS source?
System
Hi All -
I'm in the process of research on upgrading from 6.1 to 6.7.1, working on a development Solaris server. We're using the default OS authentication.
Here's the general way I'm testing this:
I've created 100 or so new OS users on the machine.
I'd like to then, through the Administration interface, like to add these 100 users from the OS as TeamSite users.
Then, I'd be able to start adding TeamSite groups, and adding the TeamSite users to the TeamSite groups.
Here's the current question:
I'm having a problem with the Search result list the first time I search for a user.
When I open the Add User dialogue in the Admin interface, I'm presented with a search option. If I enter * for a wildcard, I'd expect to get a list of all OS users. I get a handful of users listed, but not all that I'd expect.
The first time I search for a particular user's full Solaris user name, I get a result on that user. For instance, if I search for wbox (My Solaris ID), I get the correct result. But, if I search for wbo* (or other variations with an asterisk), I get no results. I would also get no results if I tried searching for my proper name, such as Walla* (for Wallace).
But after I do an initial sucessful search for my full username (wbox), I then get included in all further wildcard searches. So, later * searches list me in the results.
It seems as if there's some intermediate storage of the search results that are getting queried instead of the OS directly - unless I search for the full Solaris user name (without and wildcards).
How can I get a full list of the OS users displayed in the Add User dialogue without doing individual queries on each of the user's Solaris user name?
Many thanks,
