Problems with links to .pages

Teamsite 6.5 Sp1
Livesite 2.1

We have created a left nav component whit hyperlinks to different .pages as shown below :

Home Page
First Page
Second Page
[/HTML]

Then we have used this component in a test.page. The links works fine when we preview the test.page within teamsite. But when we deploy test.page to front end. The links does not work. And we get page not found error. Even though the .pages are deployed to the front end servers.

Furthur we investigated and we found that the links works fine in the frontend without .page extension. Ex : [HTML] Home Page [/HTML]. [color=black]But then the preview within teamsite will not work.

Please someone suggest whether the approach we are following is correct for creating hyperlinks for .pages. Is there a better approach for the same?

Can we use URL_PREFIX tag for hyperlinks ?
Is it required to change iw-proxy ?
