Anyway to remove the X Icons after deleting a file that has been published

I am using Teamsite 6.5

My User wants a clean cms system when handing over the system to them.Now there are a lot of X icons after deleting some files form the system that hase been published.I hope these are showing for version purpose.Kindly advise how to remove these feature for certain files.
