Server Rebuild of user SIDS?

Does anyone have a redundancy backup process of storing and rebuilding the SIDS of Windows groups and users in the situation that you would have to restore in case of a catastrophic server failure?

We recently went through a horrid firedrill of rebuilding window server. Although we restored our Windows groups and users, the users were fine b/c they are all driven by active directory however, the SIDS of the Windows groups changed. Therefore, the Windows groups didn't match the new group SIDS and we had to manually rebuild all permissions in the db.

What do you do and what is a good backup plan?
