Experience with TS 6.5 SP1 & Win SP1
Denise Bowker
I know - it's not supported but....
Since March I have been running Windows 2003 Server STANDARD Edition with TeamSite 6.5.
During the summer we put on SP1 of TS.
I'm not sure when SP1 of W2K was put on.
We ran that machine with VERY light usage (it was used for development and testing) from March until November 13th. On the 14th we switched that machine to be pseudo production. We let on 20 of our favorite business users in a production mode. Everything looked really good on Monday.
Tuesday all **** broke loose. All the machines networked shared drives would lock up all remote Windows Explorers windows when trying to access those drives. This included \iwserver and non-Interwoven shares. The 'hanging' only effected Windows Explorers not DOS access or 'share ware file managers'. Only Windows Explorer was effected.
Network sniffing, error logs didn't provide any answers.
The thing that has us puzzled is why did it work for 8 months and all of Monday 11/13, and fall apart on Tuesday. We do reboot every night (to clean up log files).
Interwoven Support was as helpful as they could be (Thanks Robert) and did indicate that they had all sorts of trouble with TS 6.5 SP1 on a Windows SP1 machine.
No response necessary - this is just a "watch out" SP1 w/ SP1 may work for you now, but one day.....
