Non-traditional deployment config

I admit this is perhaps not the most traditional way to do this, but I am trying to use OpenDeploy to (A) reverse deploy a file or files from my reverse source to my reverse target and THEN (B) remove the files from the reverse source once they've been deployed. I could do this with a DNR script but instead, I'm attempting it the following way:

The reverse deploy is simple and straight-forward but after that, I'm deploying <iw-home>/tmp/cci back to the reverse source from scenario A, since it's always going to be empty anyway.

What I'm noticing is that both deployment legs are being done but the job just hangs there. The log files look good and have no errors reported, but like I said, the job hangs. Am I missing something or is my sliver of creativity too much for this product?
