OD service causes java.exe to go ballistic

Anyone familier with this little teaser. - Out of the blue our Teamsite server started to look like a 286 with 1Mb of RAM. On further investigation I saw that java.exe was now sitting on 256 Mb and grabbing 100% processor time. Rebooting the server didn't help, the only thing that did was turning off the OpenDeploy Service,not a long term solution as we were happily using OD. It would seem that there is some OD related java process that is in a closed loop and gracefully starts itself every time OD gets started? Is there anyway of flushing OD that is better than a reboot? i.e. clearing hidden scheduled jobs files? Or is a re-install on the cards?
